Introduction to Continuity in Calculus

Continuity is a cornerstone concept in mathematics, essential for comprehending how functions behave. Understanding it is crucial for anyone delving into calculus and its applications. By the end of this course, you will possess a clear and practical understanding of continuity, enabling you to analyze functions, identify points of discontinuity, and apply these concepts to various mathematical problems. What you'll learn: Understand the intuitive and formal definitions of continuity for functions. Identify and classify different types of discontinuities in various functions. Apply fundamental theorems of continuity, such as the Intermediate Value Theorem and Extreme Value Theorem. Solve problems involving the continuity of piecewise-defined functions. Explore the critical relationship between continuity and differentiability. Practice analytical techniques for determining the continuity of functions. This course begins with an intuitive introduction to continuity, progressing to formal definitions and rigorous proofs. You will then explore various examples, theorems, and problem-solving strategies, culminating in a deeper appreciation for this fundamental concept. This course is designed for absolute beginners with no prior knowledge of calculus, providing all the necessary foundational concepts from the ground up.
