Sustaining a Legacy Practice: Updates, Family Involvement, and Long-Term Stewardship

A legacy project is not a single document. At its best, it grows over years, includes voices beyond your own, and is stewarded thoughtfully after you are gone. This applied course teaches you to think of legacy as a practice rather than a project. By the end of this course you will be able to schedule yearly additions to your project, involve family members in shared legacy work, decide on storage and stewardship, prepare materials for descendants you will never meet, and integrate the practice into your everyday relationships. What you will learn: - How to design a yearly addition that captures a year of life without becoming a chore - How to invite family members into shared projects such as oral histories, recipe books, and photo collections - How to capture stories from older relatives before they are no longer available - How to decide storage formats including print, digital, and a combination - How to write a stewardship letter naming who will keep, share, and add to the project - How to write versions aimed at descendants who will not know you personally - How to integrate small legacy practices into birthdays, anniversaries, and milestones The course is structured around six applied modules. Each produces a written artifact: a yearly addition plan, a family project invitation, an older-relatives interview plan, a storage and stewardship plan, a future-descendant letter, and an integration plan. This course is written for adults who already have a first legacy draft or who want their practice to last. By the end you will move from a single completed document to an ongoing practice that captures more of life over time, involves the people you love, and leaves clear instructions for how the work continues without you.
