Applied Humanistic Therapy: Across Presentations, Settings, and Modalities

Humanistic therapy is most powerful when adapted to specific presentations, settings, and modalities. This applied course teaches that adaptation through case-based modules. By the end of this course you will be able to adapt humanistic approaches to common presentations, work across individual and group modalities, integrate humanistic principles with other approaches as appropriate, and recognize the limits of the approach. What you will learn: - Adapting person-centered work for clients presenting with depression and anxiety - Humanistic approaches with clients in relational distress including couples and family work - Group therapy applications of humanistic principles - Integration of humanistic stance with cognitive, behavioral, or trauma-focused techniques within scope - Approaches to clients who request more directive work - Recognizing when person-centered work is not the appropriate primary approach - Sustained self-reflection and supervision practices in long-term humanistic work The course is structured around case-based applied modules. Each module presents a clinical scenario, walks through structured reasoning, and produces a written approach you compare against the worked-through example. This course is written for mental health clinicians and trainees deepening humanistic practice. It does not replace supervised clinical training or licensure requirements. By the end you will have structured frameworks for applying humanistic and person-centered approaches across the range of clinical situations they fit, and the discernment to recognize when other approaches better serve the client.
