Applied Hand Therapy: Complex Cases, Post-Surgical Protocols, and Return to Function

Complex hand therapy cases require integration of post-surgical protocols, structured reasoning, and return-to-function planning. This applied course teaches that integration through case-based modules. By the end of this course you will be able to apply structured frameworks to post-surgical protocols, manage complex pain presentations within scope, plan return-to-function for work and avocations, and coordinate with surgical and primary care teams. What you will learn: - Application of common post-surgical protocols including flexor tendon, extensor tendon, and nerve repair - Approaches to common fracture rehabilitation including distal radius and metacarpal - Approaches to complex regional pain syndrome within scope - Approaches to chronic conditions including arthritis and overuse syndromes - Return-to-work planning including ergonomic assessment - Return-to-sport and avocation planning for various activities - Approaches to outcome measurement and case progression The course is structured around case-based applied modules. Each module presents a complex case, walks through structured reasoning, and produces a written plan you compare against the worked-through example. This course is written for rehabilitation professionals deepening hand therapy practice. It does not replace supervised clinical training, certification preparation, or specialty mentorship.
