Foundations of Veterinary Pathology

Veterinary pathology supports diagnosis across clinical and anatomic dimensions. By the end of this course you will be able to describe the categories of veterinary pathology, recognize the principles of common diagnostic samples, identify the principles of interpretation, and understand the role of pathology in case management. What you will learn: - The categories of clinical pathology including hematology, biochemistry, urinalysis, and cytology - The categories of anatomic pathology including biopsy, surgical pathology, and necropsy - The principles of sample collection, handling, and submission - The principles of interpreting common clinical pathology panels - The principles of interpreting common cytological samples - The principles of necropsy as a diagnostic and learning tool - The role of pathology in clinical reasoning and herd-level investigation The course uses readings, sample category summaries, case examples, and reflection questions. Each module ends with applied exercises. This course is written for veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and students strengthening pathology understanding. It does not replace supervised training, specialty pathology consultation, or anatomic pathology residency training.
