Foundations of Dating and Romantic Partnerships

Dating and early romantic partnership shape some of the most important decisions adults make. Sound choices rest on understanding the principles of healthy dating, compatibility, and the early stages of partnership. This foundational course provides that base. By the end of this course you will be able to describe the principles of healthy dating, recognize the difference between compatibility and chemistry, identify the patterns of healthy and unhealthy early relationships, and understand the principles of intentional partnership. What you will learn: - The principles of dating with intention rather than drift - The difference between chemistry, compatibility, and shared values - The role of self-knowledge in choosing partners - The principles of healthy early relationships including pace, communication, and boundaries - Common patterns of unhealthy early relationships including idealization and intensity - The principles of meeting partners through different channels - The role of honesty about timelines, intentions, and circumstances The course uses readings, case examples, and reflection prompts. Each module ends with applied exercises. This course is written for adults dating or considering dating with thought rather than reflex. By the end you will have replaced romantic clichés with a clearer understanding of what healthy partnership begins with and what to look for in early relationships.
